In late winter, Santa Monica highlights experiences that bring residents and visitors together through art, sports and culture.
A seasonal highlight, Frieze Los Angeles took place from February 26 to March 1, 2026 at Santa Monica Airport. More than 100 galleries from over 20 countries presented monumental installations, curated projects and emerging artists.
This international event reinforces Santa Monica’s role as a leading contemporary art destination on the West Coast, extending into Bergamot Station and public spaces between city and ocean.
The destination will also be at the heart of the FIFA World Cup 2026. Just steps from the Pacific and conveniently connected to SoFi Stadium, Santa Monica offers the ideal coastal base to attend matches in Los Angeles while enjoying oceanfront hotels, wellness experiences and iconic outdoor attractions such as the Santa Monica Pier.
Late winter also marks the 100th anniversary of Black History Month, with exhibitions, community programs and cultural initiatives across the city.
Finally, as part of the Route 66 Centennial, a global music competition is open to all, with a USD 10,000 prize (go Frenchies!).
