The MICHELIN Guide has chosen Detroit to host the very first MICHELIN Guide American Great Lakes ceremony on April 21, 2027. The event will take place at Michigan Central, the city’s monumental former train station, now one of the most striking symbols of Detroit’s renewal.
The setting feels particularly fitting. Detroit itself is changing, and its food scene is one of the most vivid expressions of that evolution. Known around the world for its automotive and musical heritage, the city is increasingly telling its story through its restaurants, chefs and culinary culture.
During the invitation-only ceremony, restaurateurs will discover whether their establishments have earned a MICHELIN Star, a Bib Gourmand or another distinction from the Guide.
Beyond the ceremony itself, the arrival of the MICHELIN Guide marks a new chapter for Detroit’s culinary scene, bringing it greater international visibility. After music, cars, architecture and culture, food is becoming another compelling way to experience the city.
