After a two-year hiatus, the Techno Parade returns to the streets of Paris on September 19. And this year, Visit Detroit will be the guest of honor.
It is impossible to tell the story of electronic music without going back to the Motor City. In the early 1980s, Juan Atkins, Derrick May and Kevin Saunderson, the legendary Belleville Three, imagined a new musical language.
Inspired by the Motown Sound, as well as synthesizers and drum machines, they laid the foundations of techno.
Forty years later, a Detroit-themed float, DJs, and beats will roll through the streets of Paris to remind everyone of a simple truth: techno has conquered the world, but it was born in Detroit.
And while music remains one of its greatest ambassadors, the city is far more than that. Art Deco architecture, world-class museums and galleries, and a creative culinary scene…
Detroit continues to reinvent itself and has become one of the most inspiring urban destinations in the Midwest and across the United States.
Join us on September 19 to celebrate the origins of techno and maybe even follow them back to Detroit.
