Mostly known for horse races, Kentucky is also a place for golf lovers. The PGA and LPGA often host tournaments at courses all over Kentucky. In July 2025, the ISCO Championship will be played at the Hurstbourne Country Club in Louisville. Valhalla Golf Club, also near Louisville, has been the site of several PGA Championships and a Ryder Cup. It was chosen as the site of the 2028 Solheim Cup. E
ven with the Kentucky Derby aside, Spring is a big season for horses in the Bluegrass. Defender Kentucky Three-Day Event is one of the premier equestrian eventing competitions in the world. It takes place at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington in late April.
Sports in Kentucky would not be the same without college basketball. The University of Kentucky and the University of Louisville have been powerhouses in the NCAA going back decades.
About twenty minutes away from Lexington, The Kentucky Castle, located in the small town of Versailles, is an architectural jewel and perfect spot for a relaxing escape after a busy day filled with sport events.
