The Lucas Museum of Narrative Art has officially announced its planned opening on September 22, 2026, marking a key milestone in the cultural transformation shaping Los Angeles.
A visionary space imagined by George Lucas and Mellody Hobson.
More than just a museum, the Lucas Museum stands as a true architectural masterpiece:
- A futuristic structure designed by Ma Yansong (MAD Architects), appearing to float above a landscaped park created by Mia Lehrer.
- A strategic location in the heart of Exposition Park.
- A project conceived as an aesthetic and ecological manifesto, where nature, innovation, and design converge.
An exceptional collection dedicated to the art of storytelling.
The opening announcement reveals a fascinating dive into visual narrative, with more than 40,000 works ranging from classical painting to digital art, including masterpieces by Norman Rockwell, Frida Kahlo, and Jacob Lawrence, as well as iconic pieces from franchises such as Star Wars, Indiana Jones, and Black Panther.
The arrival of the Lucas Museum is part of a broader wave of cultural transformation that will reach its peak in 2026. Alongside visionary projects like DATALAND, the expansion of LACMA with the David Geffen Galleries, and the community-driven Destination Crenshaw initiative, Los Angeles reaffirms its status as a global artistic laboratory more than ever before.
