Texas heads into the end of 2026 and 2027 with a fresh mix of hotel openings and major events to discover.
In Spicewood, amid the landscapes of Hill Country, Canyon Ranch will open its largest resort to date in fall 2026. In San Antonio, Sítio will bring the former El Tropicano River Walk back to life. Then in 2027, El Cosmico will enter a new chapter in Marfa with a site spanning more than 24 hectares, while The Birdsall Residences will join Houston’s luxury hotel scene under the Auberge Resorts Collection banner.
The year will also unfold to the rhythm of some of Texas’s biggest traditions. From late January, Galveston, on the Gulf Coast, will kick things off with Mardi Gras and its parades through the historic district. Then come the boots and cowboy hats, with the major rodeos in San Antonio and Houston, where competitions, livestock events and concerts offer a lively glimpse of Western culture. In April, Fiesta San Antonio will keep the celebrations going for eleven days, with parades, music and the city’s strong Hispanic heritage.
Plenty of reasons to explore the Lone Star State in 2027.
