The birthplace of Blues, Soul and Rock’n’Roll is celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Stax Museum of American Soul Music.

The two highlights of the celebrations will be the “Night Train” concert on April 29 which will feature artists from the former Stax label as well as the “Live in Studio A” concert series in July.

Former Stax Records executive and co-owner Al Bell, label singer-songwriters David Porter and William Bell, Booker T. Jones and Steve Cropper of Booker T. & the MG’s, and James Alexander and Larry Dodson Bar Kays, will participate in this year of celebration.

Founded in 2003, the museum looks back on the history of the artists (Otis Redding, Isaac Hayes, Carla Thomas, etc.) who introduced Memphis to its second global musical revolution thanks to the Stax label, after Sun Studio’s Rock’n’Roll in the 1950s. These two museums are now part of the Must places to visit in Memphis.

Icing on the cake, the leading American travel magazine Condé Nast Traveler recently elected Memphis as one of the 23 best places to travel to in 2023!
